Project

Lyons Township High School, North and South Campuses

Henry Bros. Co. completed facility improvement projects totaling more than $18 million at Lyons Township High School District 204’s North and South Campuses.

One of the more challenging projects was the North Campus cafeteria renovation—the original cafeteria was gutted, and a 10,000 S.F. addition was built in the adjacent courtyard. All equipment and materials had to be carefully maneuvered through a very tight 8 x 10-foot single point of access corridor. As our superintendent describes the challenge, “It was like building a full-scale ship in a bottle.” The addition has EPDM and standing seam metal roofing.

The Reber Center, the school’s performing arts auditorium, was renovated with new seating, sound, and light equipment, acoustic improvements, and the revitalization of the original 1920s orchestra pit. Other north campus projects included renovation of the kitchen, locker room upgrades, the addition of classroom air conditioning, univents, new plumbing components, and a new gym ceiling.

Projects completed at the South campus included the main entrance reconfiguration, renovated science labs, new roofs, and a redesign project to create a safer and more secure entry into the building.

Miscellaneous updates included data/video bandwidth 10G, domestic/condensate piping/pumps, fire alarm system headends/rewire, and hardscape and landscape finishes.
