Project
Ernest F. Kolb Elementary School
Built to replace the vintage Dearborn Heights Elementary School, the new facility was named in honor of the late mayor of Oak Lawn, Illinois, Ernest F. Kolb.
The new, two-story masonry, 51,899 square foot, $4.6 million school consists of classrooms on two levels, a media center, cafetorium/gymnasium/stage, and administrative offices. A very attractive interior atmosphere was created by the combination of tray ceilings, skylights, and pleasing floor and trim color combinations.
Demolition of the existing structure was done after the new facility was completed, allowing for the creation of a new playground and paved parking lot.
