Henry Bros. Co. (HBCo) joined Oak Forest city officials, along with representatives from Carefree Development, KOO Architecture, IHDA, Cook County Bureau of Economic Development, and Fifth Third Bank to celebrate the groundbreaking of Carefree Village at 15005 South Cicero in Oak Forest.
The $19.5 million project will feature a two-story, 79,800 S.F. independent senior living apartment complex with 55 residential units consisting of 42 one-bedroom and 13 two-bedroom units as well as indoor parking for residents. The first floor will feature a lobby and management offices. The building structure will consist of concrete foundations with precast plank, steel, masonry, and cementitious siding.

Co. were Bill Callaghan, Jr., President; Bob Nielsen, Vice President of Operations; Scott Medows, Chief Estimator; Tom O’Brien, Vice President; John Tondelli, Senior Project Manager; Mike Maksymiak, Superintendent; Eddie Rodriguez, Project Engineer; Dave Peregrin, Civil Engineer, Falcon Consulting Enterprises; and Marcy Johnson, Program Coordinator.
Representatives from Carefree Development were Phil Moeller and Jessica Poirier; from KOO Architecture were Sarah Sutor and Andrew Buck. Oak Forest city officials included Mayor Jim Hortsman; City Administrator Moses Amidei; Assistant Director of Community and Economic Development Paul Ruane; Communications Director Chrissy Maher; and Alderperson Jim Emmett. Also in attendance were Bob McGhee from Fifth Third Bank, and Adam Moore from IHDA.
Carefree Village will provide much-needed safe, modern, and accessible living for seniors. Completion is anticipated for the middle of 2026.
