The Village of Mokena celebrated the grand opening of its new police station at 10300 West 191st Street on May 29, 2024. The 35,000 S.F. facility has state-of-the-art policing technology, an indoor gun range, a defensive tactics area, a detention center, evidence storage areas, a fitness center, training and meeting rooms, and administrative offices. The project architect was Studio GC and Henry Bros. Co. was the general contractor.
The new structure has an underground geothermal system to regulate building temperature, a green technology feature. Henry Bros. Co. also created a large culvert along the far west side of the 3.5-acre property to divert rain and water runoff.
Current and former Village of Mokena officials, police officers, and consultants participated in the ribbon-cutting. Afterward, the more than 300 guests toured the building and were treated to refreshments.
