Rickover Naval Academy Gets Building Updates

Henry Bros. Co. completed an extensive improvement project at Rickover Naval Academy (RNA) in Chicago’s Portage Park neighborhood. Established in 2005, the academy began its 2019-2020 school year at its permanent location, the former Luther North High School.

Originally built in 1953, HBCo restored the school’s building envelope, replaced the roof, and added new HVAC infrastructure, electrical and fire alarm systems, and energy-efficient lighting. The science labs, art room, theatre, and gymnasium were updated, and new locker rooms were built. ADA upgrades were also made throughout the building. Additional site improvements included parking lot repairs, ADA accessibility, and signage.

HBCo performed work on more than 105,000 square feet of the 233,000 square foot building and did it in phases to ensure the building opened on time for the school year.
