Project

6001 W. Lawrence Avenue Apartments

This project features two new four-story buildings with a total of 48 units in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Chicago. Located at the corner of Lawrence and Austin Avenues, the development will provide affordable housing for veterans, families, and people with disabilities.

Residential units will include studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments in two four-story buildings. Amenities will include on-site management, a library, a computer lab, a community room, a children’s activity room, and storage. Services will be available on-site to assist residents with health and wellness, employment, and financial counseling, among other programs.

The building, framed in light-gauge metal, will have wood floor trusses, elevators, and CMU walls at the elevator shafts and stair towers. The exterior walls will be clad with fiber cement panels.

The project is funded in part with IHDA tax credits, and HBCo was involved early on in providing preconstruction services for the owner. Additional funding was provided by The National Equity Fund, Inc., Com-Ed, and other grants.
