Moraine Valley Community College
Henry Bros. Co. renovated the group study rooms at Moraine Valley Community College’s library. The 5,300 S.F. of renovated space features serpentine walls with glass panels flowing seamlessly into the existing space. HBCo aligned the ceiling tiles to follow the existing grid of the library’s ceiling and set the recessed light fixtures to follow the curves of the walls. An additional 12,000 square feet of existing library space was updated with fresh paint and new carpet, uniting the overall appearance of the library with the new group study rooms.
The group study rooms are designed for collaborative work setup to support teamwork and “bring your own” technology. The group study rooms have energy efficient, automatic off/on LED lighting, numerous easy-access power outlets, a work table with ample seating, and large, wall-mounted dry-erase boards. Rooms vary in size and setup, and a few have additional amenities, such as wall-mounted monitors.
The project was completed while the library remained open to staff and students. HBCo ensured safety and security within the work zone while minimizing disruption to the library’s operations.
