Project

College of Lake County, University Center Addition

This striking addition to the College of Lake County features a three-story glass and metal curtain wall. The elegant style is carried through the interior lobby and is punctuated by a dramatic spiral staircase.

Situated on a 14-acre site adjacent to the existing college complex, this 89,000 square foot, $20 million, three-story facility is comprised of three ‘classroom houses.’ They are the Administrative Core which includes administrative offices, the library, technology center, and other common building spaces; the Conference Center wing which provides larger classroom spaces that can support conference functions, a 100-seat auditorium/lecture hall, a tiered classroom, and an executive seminar room; and Science Labs that feature a wet lab, psychology/education lab, and an observation lab.

This project was the recipient of the 2006 CDB Thomas H. Madigan Award for Outstanding New Construction and was the 2007 winner of the “Excellence in Masonry” Gold Medal Award.
