Ridgewood High School Fieldhouse
This $15 million, 67,000 S.F. addition is a LEED Gold Certified four-level fieldhouse. Features include classrooms, an exercise area, an elevated running track, a new gym with a wood floor, and storage and mechanical rooms. Among the environmentally-friendly features of this project are a “green” roof, low-flow plumbing fixtures that create a 30 percent water consumption reduction, and a cistern for harvesting rainwater.
The building’s energy efficiency is 60 percent more than a standard school building with respect to the mechanical, electrical, and building envelope. The bulk of building materials come from within a 500-mile radius of the school, another contributing factor to the school’s success at lessening its carbon footprint.
